ResearchCast is built for one goal: making it easier to keep up with research when you don't have time to read everything. But the real workflow isn't just "generate audio" - it's browse, triage, listen, and move on to the next paper quickly.
Today we're shipping two improvements that tighten that loop: a new three-panel desktop layout and full ResearchCast scripts so you can read the podcast as well as listen.
The new three-panel desktop layout
On desktop, ResearchCast now uses a clean three-panel design that keeps the parts you use most always within reach:
- Left panel (Library): Quick access to Following, Playlists, and your ResearchCasts.
- Center panel (Main view): Browse Explore, open a list, or work through your library without losing your place.
- Right panel (Details): A dedicated ResearchCast detail panel with playback, metadata, actions, and the full script.
The result: fewer back-and-forth clicks and less context switching while you're building your personal "research paper podcast" queue.
Why it makes ResearchCast faster
If you use ResearchCast to stay current with arXiv and academic literature, speed matters. The three-panel layout is designed for the exact desktop workflow researchers repeat all day:
- Browse and listen at the same time: Keep navigation visible while a ResearchCast plays.
- Stay oriented: The details panel keeps the "what am I listening to?" context on screen.
- Move faster between papers: Jump from one ResearchCast to the next without losing where you were in Explore or your Library.
This is a small UI change with a big impact: ResearchCast feels more like a focused desktop app for AI research podcasts and less like a collection of separate pages.
Full ResearchCast scripts (read the podcast)
Audio is perfect for commutes and workouts, but sometimes you want text: to scan quickly, to verify a detail, or to read in a quiet environment. ResearchCast now includes a full podcast script view right in the details panel.
- Read along while you listen: Use the full script like a podcast transcript for better comprehension.
- Skim for the key idea: Jump to the part you care about without replaying.
- Turn summaries into notes: Highlight and copy passages into your research workflow.
If you've been searching for a better academic paper to audio experience - something closer to a true "paper to podcast" workflow - the combination of a desktop-first layout and readable scripts makes ResearchCast much easier to use daily.
